In an effort to build the most environmentally sensitive and energy efficient homes in the Chicagoland area, Mike Finnegan has completed a variety of courses offered by National Association of Home Builder’s (NAHB) University of Housing. He is now recognized by the association as a Certified Green Professional. With this training Finnegan can build homes that provide buyers with lower energy costs, lower maintenance, better indoor air quality, and better long-term value without driving up the cost of construction.

In addition to being Green Home Certified, Finnegan Construction is also proceeding to build homes that are Energy Star compliant as well. To earn the ENERGY STAR designation, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code.
